Armagnac is a famous brandy, produced mainly in the Gascony region of south-west France. It is made by distilling wine, generally a blend of local grape varieties such as ugni blanc, colombard, baco blanc and folle blanche.
This distillation process is carried out in copper stills and is distinguished from other French eaux-de-vie such as cognac by the continuous still method, which allows for continuous distillation unlike the Charentais still method used for cognac.
