Jean-Michel Tribot, the creator of this Cognac batch 92, represents the 4th generation of the family that runs this 54-hectares vineyards.

The Tribot family's presence in the commune of Criteuil-la-Magdeleine dates back to the middle of the 19th century. The vineyards has always been passed down from father to son, until today when Samuel, Jean-Michel's son, is in charge of the estate.

In the early 1970s, Jean-Michel married Annick and came to help his father Régis with the farm work. Father and son worked together for 25 years.
Throughout these years, Régis, a demanding winegrower with a strong character, held the reins of the estate's management alone. A loyal friend of André Giraud, Rémy Martin's renowned cellar master between 1961 and 1990, Régis received his invaluable advice on distilling and maturing Cognac. After his father's death, Jean-Michel took over the running of the business and prepared his son Samuel for his own succession.
During his studies in viticulture, Samuel did a distillation and pruning course with my father Jean-Luc.

The young wife, Annick, is dynamic, outgoing, dedicated and an outstanding organiser. She excels in the theatre, in various associations and above all in her work as a teacher at Sainte-Marthe school in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente. It was through her that our two families became friends, as my brother and sisters and I attended primary school at Sainte-Marthe while my father, Jean-Luc Pasquet, chaired the management body of the same public school for much of the 1980s.

The Tribot Cognac have all been distilled in the two 25 Hl stills, installed in 1968 and 1991, and are matured in the 6 cellars on the estate, in barrels made from staves dried on site and made by Mr Pelletant, a talented cooper in Mainxe.

This Cognac batch 92 impressed us with its aromatic richness. ‘Here's a Cognac that's well housed’, I said to myself, developing a perfect harmony between the complexity of the eau-de-vie and the aromas of the wood. Ageing in dry cellars gives this Cognac great concentration and remarkable intensity.
